Latent is a title that can hold three things at once: the minutes a Polaroid takes to develop, the technical term for an exposed but undeveloped image, and the twenty years I went before recognizing these particular Polaroids as pictures rather than mistakes. Twenty-six made the final cut, with pairs matched by the shape of their flaws. Shot on Polaroid film through an SX-70 Sonar OneStep and on Spectra.
